Please be advised that All Treat Farms Limited will be testing various odour emission rates on Thursday, February 21, 2008.
Tests will be conducted from:
- 1. The surface of the leaf pile before turning, by means of a flux chamber to determine the odour emissions rate from the surface of the unturned pile.
- 2. The surface of the leaf pile after turning, by means of a flux chamber to determine odour emissions rate from the surface of the recently turned pile.
- 3. Downwind of the turning operation, to determine the odour emission rate of the turning process.
ZORIX Environmental, the company conducting the testing, uses an approach that is based on sensory evaluation, using the human sense of smell. The human olfactory process is extremely complex and no mechanized sensor can match the sensitivity of the human nose. ZORIX uses an objective, blind test procedure where an odour panel determines odour detection threshold values. The odour panelists will evaluate the odour samples in ZORIX's unique, state-of-the-art olfactometry laboratory (odour lab).
To see what happens once these samples are collected please go to the website of the consultants doing the testing. www.zorix.ca.
The program will include the collection of a minimum of ten odour samples. The odour panel session to evaluate the collected odour samples will be conducted the day after the on-site test.
These tests are done at worst-case scenario, so depending on the direction of the wind on Thursday, February 21st, there could be leaf odours generated. All Treat will do their utmost to ensure that odours are kept to a minimum that day. |
